Former Iraqi PM, Ilyad Allawi, said of Iraq on the 3rd anniversary of the US invasion:
"It is unfortunate that we are in civil war. We are losing each day an average 50 to 60 people throughout the country, if not more. If this is not civil war, then God knows what civil war is."
"Iraq is in the middle of a crisis. Maybe we have not reached the point of no return yet, but we are moving towards this point. We are in a terrible civil conflict now."
"It will not only fall apart, but sectarianism will spread throughout the region - and even Europe and the United States would not be spared all the violence that may occur as a result of sectarian problems in this region."
But US Vice President Cheney, the man who told us a few months back that the Iraqi insurgency was in its ‘last throes’, now relived 3 of his infamous lines by declaring that (1) al Qaeda is involved [and not Sunni-Shiite factions], (2) al Qaeda is so desperate hence the increased killings in Iraq, and (3) the Iraqi invasion prevented further 9/11 attacks [again lying to the American people as if the Iraqis were responsible for 9/11].
Then master strategist President Bush himself revealed to us that the US has a strategy for victory in Iraq.
What did I tell you about the standard fantasy of American leaders?
